I was inspired to create a sci-fi visual using Cinema 4D and After Effects along with Video Copilot plug-ins. I decided to go for a concept visual for the video game franchise known as Dead Space. The goal of this project was to make a cinematic piece that lasted one minute. In Cinema 4D, I created a 3D model that has the look and feel of an alien type rock. This rock has bumps and edges by using mattes and textures acquired online from a free commons website. I applied a morphing displacement on the alien rock making the overall vibe somewhat eerie. In After Effects, I created a HUD intro, a space scene that included advanced compositing, and a Dead Space title screen. Using Video Copilot plug-ins, I created a 3D planet model, particle simulator, and a smoke simulator, along with cinematic filters such as optical flares and film grains. The audio used were samples taken off from free common audio websites. I put these samples into Logic Pro X to create unique sound effects and a musical narrative.
